Various Types of Camping Stoves Review

#1: A Wood-Burning Stove

  • Make sure the stove’s “spikes” are facing up before placing it on a flat surface.

  • Place a few hexamine blocks on the stove and light. Hexamine blocks can be reduced in size to make them easier to light.

  • Make sure you don’t burn your fingers by lighting up the fuel blocks with a match.

  • Make sure your pan or mess tin is placed on top of your stove once the blocks are alight.

  • To ensure the flame lasts as long as possible, it’s important to keep an eye on both the flame and the blocks.

#2: Cooking with Non-Pressurized Liquids

  • Get familiar with the Trangia’s components by unpacking them.

  • The bottom of the windshield should be placed on a flat surface. Placement inside your tent is strictly prohibited.

  • Fill the brass burner unit with methanol and insert it into the bottom windshield slot with extreme care. Make sure you don’t get any methanol on anything.

  • Place the windshield’s upper portion on the bottom. They are stacked on top of each other and twist together to form a complete unit.

  • Use a match to light the methanol in the brass burner, then carefully extinguish it. Though the flames are invisible, you should be able to feel the heat radiating from them immediately. When checking to see if it’s lit, take care not to touch the flame directly with your hand.

  • Using the handle, set the pan or pot on top of the stove to heat the water or prepare the food.

  • Use the handle of the Trangia to carefully place the simmering ring onto the flame once you have adjusted the sliding disc to allow some air in.

  • The flame must be extinguished after you’ve finished cooking. Place the simmering ring on top of the flame with the handle. Cover the brass burner unit completely with the disc to ensure that no oxygen reaches it. It’s going to be extremely hot, so be careful! The flame will soon be extinguished. The rubber seal on the lid will catch fire if you try to extinguish the flame with it. Before putting your stove away, make sure it’s completely cooled down.

#3: Stoves for Pressurized Liquids

  • Remove the stove’s protective box and set it aside.

  • Using your free hand, gently lift each arm out of its bracket.

  • Press down on them to secure their position after they have been rotated left or right.

  • A click should be heard as soon as the gas cartridge is inserted clockwise into its socket on the stove. The valve could be damaged if you turn the cartridge any further.

  • A flat, even surface is ideal for setting up the stove.

  • The stove is now ready to be lit. Adjust the gas flow gradually so that the flames are not too high by holding a flame close to the burner.

  • Make sure that your pan is placed on the stovetop in the middle of the burners. If the flames get too close to the pan, they’ll start to burn.

  • Stop gas flow by turning the knob counterclockwise after you’re done cooking.

  • The gas cartridge must be removed from the stove after it has cooled down. To restore the arms to their original position, raise them and make a left or right turn. Keep the stove in its protective container at all times.

Cooking with Natural Gas

  • To get started, set up your gas stove on a level, stable surface.

  • Remove the top of the stove’s pan support. Turn it over so that the support is now facing up and ready to hold your pan in place.

  • On the stove, remove the cartridge cover and insert the cartridge. Take off the gas canister cap and slide the gas cartridge into the stove, being careful not to damage the gas canister.

  • Hold the gas canister in place by pressing the cartridge stop lever down. Before using the gas, make sure the canister is properly inserted.

  • The stove should click and light when you turn the control knob to the left to ‘ignition.’ Try again if it doesn’t work and see if the light comes on.

  • Adjust the flame height by turning the control knob.

  • It’s time to put your stove to work. Heat will be directed downwards towards your stove’s gas cartridge if you use a pan or kettle that is too large for the burners. To avoid stoves overheating if you’re using more than one, keep them at least three feet apart if possible.

  • Turn the knob to the ‘off’ position and lift the cartridge lever to the ‘unlock’ position once you’re done.

  • Before removing the gas cartridge, make sure the flame has been extinguished and allow it to cool completely. When not in use, do not leave the gas cartridge in the cooker. When you’re done, put the gas cartridge back together and replace the red protective cap.
